WOMEN BEYOND WALLS
ABOUT
Over 741,000 women are in prison worldwide. The rate of women’s incarceration is growing at a faster rate than that of men’s.
Our mission is to build collective power and resource resistance to shape political advocacy and agendas towards ending the systemic injustices that ensnare women and girls in cycles of incarceration.
We believe that by uniting a diverse coalition of people, including women with lived-experience, lawyers, activists, academics, philanthropists, policymakers, criminal justice professionals, feminists, and allies, we can create a potent space for collaboration, learning, and action. Our efforts span from storytelling for advocacy, to campaigning around under-representation, to global research, to influencing policy reform.
The Women Beyond Walls podcast
Our podcast aims to take you beyond tired prison stereotypes to listen to real-life stories from incredible individuals – women with lived experience of the justice system, feminist lawyers, activists and experts – all committed to seeing an end to the over-incarceration and over-criminalisation of women worldwide.
